Scholarships Valley Arts Music Scholarship Program
Who is Eligible?
Each year we award deserving middle, high school students ages 11 to 17, and undergraduate music majors of who present proof of enrollment at any college or university.
Audition Selection:
Pre-auditions are conducted before a selection panel composed of music educators and music professionals.
Vocalist should be prepared to perform two contrasting styles of music (no rap, hip-hop or show tunes) and should be accompanied by a CD with music. No pre-recorded voice including background vocals is allowed on CD just music, not more than 8 minutes.
Musicians should prepare two pieces demonstrating quality and technique. Instruments can include piano, woodwind, strings, brass, or acoustic guitar (no electric or percussions). The performance should last not more than 10 minutes.
Currently we offer up to 3 scholarships based on available funds but hope to increase number in the future.
Scholarship Award Criteria:
Award amounts range from $500 to $1,000 presented by Alabama Statewide Talent Scholarship Competition Program, which also includes educational music workshops covering a plethora of valuable information for the students.
Scholarship awards are based on performance, financial need, letter of recommendation and the competed online application.
Scholarships awarded will be paid directly to the educational institution attended by recipient for tuition, music materials, or applied lessons. No funds will be given directly to the recipients.
Scholarships are not available to directors, officers, or committee member's families or friends.
