She was born blind and attended the Alabama School for the Blind (ASB) in Talladega where she graduated high school in May of 1967. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree at Birmingham Southern College in May of 71. She taught private piano lessons in Athens and in Huntsville. In December of '77 she earned a degree in counselor education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She taught blind and visually Impaired people independent living skills for 32 years, but continued her avocation of music being music director at her church, playing for clubs and private parties, and again, sometimes in bands or small groups, and sometimes solo. She played 23 years at Finnegan's Pub from 1990 to 2013 where she payed show tunes, old rock, songs from "The great American song Book", and, of course, Irish music. She has been a member of the Huntsville Feminist Chorus since 1995 where she sings, plays percussion and flute, and sometimes accompanies them on the harp.
She currently lives in Huntsville with her son, Roland Bowers and her husband, Carlton Pendegraph.
She is available and eager to participate in the healing and come-back of her community from COVID and its difficult effects on public music performances.
