Lil Hardin Armstrong was a pianist, composer, singer, and band leader who helped introduce America to jazz music. Lil Hardin one of the most formative female jazz musicians of her day and the second wife of Louis Armstrong.
Part 3 of 3 takes us back to the humble beginnings of the musical beginnings of Lillian Hardin Armstrong (February 3, 1898 – August 27, 1971)
This project features pianist Caili O’Doherty who arranged and performed with her band, several Lil Hardin Armstrong compositions O’Doherty’s sextet includes: Tahira Clayton and Michael Mayo (vocals), Nicole Glover (tenor saxophone), Tamir Shmerling (bass), and Cory Cox (drums).
The project has been presented in three parts.
